Our Mission "Our mission is to enhance the quality of life for elders in our service area through education, planning and coordination of services."

Welcome

The experts at Southwest 8 Senior Services, Inc. know just how to handle the challenges that aging brings. We have been helping seniors maintain their independence in the community since 1980. We provide a broad range of programs that support seniors, caregivers and their families in the eight southwest counties of Iowa: Cass, Fremont, Harrison, Mills, Montgomery, Page, Pottawattamie, and Shelby.

From in-home services like home-delivered meals and housecleaning to information about Medicare and drug cards to family caregiver support for seniors and their loved ones, we can help.

  • Be a Good Neighbor to Senior Citizens -
From all indications, we seem to be experiencing one of the snowiest winters in several years. This amount of snow can be overwhelming for the average citizen, but this year, Southwest 8 Senior Services asks you to think about your elderly family members, friends and neighbors. If you have a neighbor who is a frail senior, please consider taking some extra time to shovel or snow-blow their driveway, sidewalks and / or porch. This gesture can make a huge difference to a homebound senior who will appreciate your extra efforts when they retrieve their mail or newspaper, or when they have Meals on Wheels delivered. Inclement weather also makes it difficult even for active seniors get out and about to run errands, so if you are making a routine trip to the grocery store, check with your elderly neighbor to see if they are in need of a few necessary items. The amount and frequency of this winter’s snow makes it impossible to provide volunteers for all of the seniors who need assistance with snow removal. So Southwest 8 asks that we all “Be a Good Neighbor to a Senior” and assist those seniors in your neighborhood who need help. Also, if you are interested in volunteering to provide snow removal for frail seniors in your community, please call Southwest 8 Senior Services and speak directly with our volunteer manager at 712-328-2540 or 800-432-9209, extension 21.
